Anjan Dham is a holy hill shrine located in the Gumla district of Jharkhand, nestled inside the Anjan hills about 18 km from Gumla town. According to ancient legends and local folklore, the hill is the birthplace of Lord Hanuman (the monkey god), who was born to Anjana Devi. The hill houses an ancient cave temple dedicated to Anjana Devi, with a unique idol depicting her carrying baby Hanuman. The temple complex is surrounded by dense forests, caves, and natural springs. Due to its isolated mountain setting, the site remains an offbeat pilgrimage, offering deep silence, spiritual vibrations, and sweeping views of the surrounding green valleys.
The temple dates back several centuries, with the surrounding hills holding rock shelters and caves used by ancient ascetics. The local tribal communities (specifically the Oraon and Kharwar tribes) have worshipped the deity here for generations, merging Vedic legends with tribal forest rituals.
