Overview

Moti Jharna is a scenic and revered three-tier waterfall located in the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand, nestled in the Rajmahal Hills near Maharajpur. The waterfall is formed by a local hill stream that cascades down vertical basalt cliffs, creating a spectacular shower of droplets that look like shining pearls (Moti), giving the waterfall its name. It is a highly popular picnic spot during the winter months, and has a cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva situated directly behind the main cascade, attracting both nature lovers and pilgrims.

History & Significance

The Rajmahal Hills are geological treasures containing fossils dating back to the Jurassic age. Local folklore associates Moti Jharna with spiritual legends of sages meditating inside the cave behind the thundering water curtains.
