Overview

Ramrekha Dham is a prominent cave temple shrine situated on a forested mountain top in the Simdega district of Jharkhand, about 28 km from the district headquarters. According to epic legends, Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lakshmana spent a significant portion of their 14-year exile (Vanvas) at this hill, leaving behind sacred marks. The cave houses idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, and Lord Shiva. A natural water spring on the hill flows year-round and is considered highly holy. The temple is reached by climbing a series of steps up the hill, passing through dense forests of sal and mahogany. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding green valleys and hills.

History & Significance

The site has been revered as a holy sanctuary since antiquity. A massive annual fair (Karthik Purnima Mela) has been held here for centuries, drawing thousands of pilgrims from Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
