Overview

Hirni Falls is a beautiful 37-metre twin waterfall located in the dense forests of West Singhbhum district, about 70 km from Chaibasa. The Ramgarha River splits into two distinct streams before cascading over the cliff edge, creating a picturesque twin-waterfall effect. The falls are surrounded by thick sal and teak forests, making the journey itself a nature lover's delight. The pool at the base is calm enough for safe bathing during the post-monsoon months. The area is known for its rich tribal culture, with several Ho and Santhal villages nearby.

History & Significance

The name Hirni refers to a female deer in the local language, possibly alluding to the wildlife once abundantly found near the falls. The area remains one of the most pristine and least commercialised natural sites in Jharkhand.
