Overview

Patratu Valley, located in the Ramgarh district about 40 km from Ranchi, is famous for its stunning serpentine road that winds through a deep valley flanked by lush green hills. The series of tight S-curves along the 12-km stretch between Patratu and the dam offers one of the most thrilling and photogenic road drives in eastern India. The valley is surrounded by dense forests and the Patratu Dam creates a large reservoir perfect for boating and lakeside relaxation. The combination of the dramatic road, the expansive reservoir, and the forested hills makes Patratu Valley a must-visit destination for adventure seekers and photographers.

History & Significance

The Patratu Thermal Power Station, one of the earliest power plants in Jharkhand, was established here due to the water availability from the reservoir. The valley road was originally built to connect the power plant with the national highway.
