Overview

Rajrappa is home to the famous Chinnamastika Temple, a Shakti Peetha dedicated to Goddess Chinnamasta (Chinnamastika), located at the dramatic confluence of the Damodar and Bhairavi rivers in Ramgarh district. The temple sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river confluence, where the waters crash over rocky rapids creating a powerful natural spectacle. The goddess Chinnamasta is a unique form of the Divine Mother depicted as a self-decapitated deity, representing self-sacrifice and the cycle of creation and dissolution. The temple attracts both devotees and nature lovers for its unique combination of spiritual power and natural beauty.

History & Significance

The temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India, believed to be spots where parts of Goddess Sati's body fell. Local tradition says the goddess's forehead fell here. The temple has been a significant tantric worship site for centuries.
