Jyotirindranath Tagore, the elder brother of Rabindranath Tagore, spent his final years in Ranchi and lived in a house on this hill. Rabindranath Tagore visited his brother here multiple times and is believed to have written some of his works inspired by the natural beauty of the Chotanagpur Plateau. The ashram on the hill preserves this literary and cultural heritage.
